Why I decided to get an apple watch
I know I have already posted on my time with the apple watch, but if you have not seen it, I suggest taking a look at it first before reading this one.
Here is the link.

This post will focus more on why I decided to get one, and to touch on a few things I have heard from the public about why I decided to get one based on other reviews I have done in places like apple vis and youtube. The apple watch is not a new thing. Smart watches have been around some time now, but they have lacked in a few key area’s that the apple watch fills. First is build quality. The only watch that has come close to this is the Samsung galaxy line of smart watches, and even they have not quite reached the build quality of a good watch. Most smart watches are made of plastics or cheaply cast alloys, and have flimsy curved glass display’s. The apple watch comes in three finishes, the custom aluminum case that apple claims is several times harder than standard aluminum, stainless steal witch is cold forged, resulting in a much stronger and structurally sound body that is caroision and chemical resistant, and the 18 carit gold finish witch is compacted upon machineing to combat the imfamus softness of gold. The displays are made of much stronger materials as well, just don’t expect to be able to drop your watch face down on the side walk and not worry. The apple watch sport is made of what apple calls ion x glass. This is the same glass used in the iphone 6 and 6 plus, and is proven to be reziztant to key scratching, knife scratching and stabbing, steal wull, a metal file, but it did faulter to heavy grade sand paper. Face it though., how many of us are going to have random sand paper in our pockets with our watches, I mean, unless you like randomly sanding things. *walks up to someone’s car and presses saned paper firmly against its windshield.* Anyway, the apple watch and apple watch addission have safire display’s. This material is the second hardest transparent material next to diamond, and is used on many high end watch faces. I am not going to get into the numerous band types and combinations, but my point is, hts a quality device, and because of the processes used to manufacture it, apple is justified in charging what they charge. Take a look at this page if you have time, a leading manufacturing inthuziast takes us through some of the processes in making the cases of these devices

To put this into prospective, some high end watches can run up to 30,000 dollars and even higher, and they don’t have full fledged computers and bio medical sensors inside of them. Moving on from that, I feel that the watch’s functionality does what is ment to do. So many people expected the watch to do so many mor things than it does, and I am actually glad it doesn’t. The watch is designed as a light interaction device. Glancing at alerts that would just be plain old annoying to seak out my phone to see, setting timers and stop watches, doing quick things like setting reminders with siri and dictating a quick text message, these are some of the things the watch is designed for. So along with that build quality, you have something that helps you get things done in quick bursts, saving the phone to be used as a device for longer spanning tasks. Not only that, but because I am not constantly waking my phones display, I find that I don’t even need to take a charger with me to work anymore. Now down to the meat and potato’s of this post. The one question is, if it only does those little things including the things I mentioned on my previus post, why spend as much as you did? Well, I didn’t just buy it because it’s a fancy smart watch made by apple. I identify myself as a nerd, and these types of things make me happy. Everyone likes something that they spend money on. It could be a fancy meal, an expensive car, a computer, a pair of expensive headphones, an electronic piano, the list goes on. But because I am a nerd, electronics make me happy, and I think I should be able to spend money on the things that make me happy as long as I do not venture outside of my means. Speaking of witch, I wanted to make this post longer, but the process I was waiting on just finished, so I got to get back to work. Feel free to comment here and let me know what you think!
Thanks for this post. A good one as always. I remain in the "my phone already does all this stuff so why dump $500" camp, but I am always interested in this stuff being a self-confessed nerd in my own right. I'll see what people say about the Watch 2.0 and onward, but for now I am definitely a no go. As I said though, this stuff intrigues me and the more the merrier in terms of reviews and posts like this one.
Ah, so he feels a need to justify his new toy?
Wonders why. Lol
Sorry, just had to.
I've got a pair of headphones that cost as much as your new watch, so, I understand. Lol
Why, because I wanted them. Smile.
Thanks for this post Chris.
I still haven't received my apple watch but had been starting to doubt my purchase; this is not unusual when I buy new gadgets; like you, I am a nerd and tech make me happy. But I was starting to wonder if I'll use more than a couple of the functions. I only have notifications turned on for messages; I will get to everything else when I'm ready and not before.
You reminded me though about the timer function which would be especially handing for cooking etc.
Time will tell; you may have given me new enthusiasm. :)
you have a pair of 800 dollar headphones?
Smile.
Are Apple watches 800?
I thought they were around 550 for the better one, unless you went gold.
I got the 42mm stainless steal with the steal mesh band and a sport band. for all of that is around 8
Coolness!
I was not very impressed by the haptics, even when set to prominent. Therefore, I will not be purchasing one.
